Massachusetts Requirements

In the state of Massachusetts, any residence built before the year 1978, and has a child under the age of 6 living in the residence is required to be in compliance with the Massachusetts laws and regulations. The only way to determine if a residence is in compliance is by having a lead inspection conducted by a licensed lead inspector. If lead is found, an authorized person(s) is required to complete the de-leading work before a reinspection can occur. It is against the Massachusetts laws and regulations for an unauthorized person to perform any level of de-leading work, and any evidence found is required to be reported to the state.
